I would like to make the following FOI request about breaches of the DPA. I would be happy to have the response in letter or email format, whichever is the most convenient.
1. On how many occasions in each of the last 2 years (either calendar or financial years, as appropriate) did the ICO confirm breaches of the Data Protection Act by any of the following groups of institutions?
- banks and building societies
- local authorities
- central government departments
- HMRC
2. For each breach referred to in response to Q1, please provide:
- a brief description of the breach; and
- the names of the company, authority or departments found to be in breach.
Please note that we are happy for this information to be provided so that the descriptions of each breach are not assigned to individual companies or public authorities.
3. For each of the 4 categories described in Q1, please can you tell me:
- the number of complaints received by the ICO in relation to potential data protection breaches in each of the last 2 years (either calendar or financial years as appropriate);
- the number of data protection investigations opened as a result;
