6 month secondment 

We are offering a secondment opportunity to work as a Cyber Security Engagement Manager. The role will sit within the ICO’s Cyber Incident Response and Investigations team and will involve supporting the delivery of our engagement plan across regulated sectors, both under GDPR and the NIS Regulations; aimed at strengthening our collaboration with internal departments and a number of external stakeholders. 

You will have experience in cyber security and the relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks to support the delivery of an ambitious work programme which is focused on strengthening the ICO’s collaboration with key partner agencies, other data protection authorities and competent authorities in relation to cyber security.  The effective delivery of the work programme will support the ICO’s strategic priorities and the ICO’s contribution to cross agency initiatives to reduce cyber related harms. 

Your key responsibilities will include working with the team to deliver key objectives aimed at developing our collaboration for incident response and management, both with key partner agencies, other regulators and law enforcement agencies and the regulated community.  You will support our focus on strategic and operational opportunities to share information and key learnings, including developing a number of tactical exercises which explore and test the interdependencies between regulators and law enforcement agencies for requirements under the GDPR and the NIS Regulations.  

In addition, you will be required to take the lead the delivery of post Brexit collaboration plans with national and international competent authorities under the NIS Regulations.

Your experience, skills and ability

  • Experience of cyber security incidents, GDPR and the NIS Regulations, particularly in the context of incident response and management.
  • Knowledge of the relevant regulatory frameworks, both in the UK and internationally
  • Relevant experience of planning and managing cyber incident response (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and be confident in engaging with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
