‘Don’t hang about, change your password’ - Information Commissioner
There’ve been lots of reports in the media about eBay having their customer database ‘hacked’. We're actively looking at this situation, with a view to ensuring a full investigation takes place. On the face of it, this is a very serious breach.
At this stage, we still don't know how many UK customers' information may has been compromised, but we’d say it looks like good advice to change your password.
Don't hang about, particularly if you're one of those people who tend to use the same password for lots of online resources. And when you change it, pick a good, strong password – not your pet’s name or 12345!
Also, watch out, because there'll be lots of scam merchants sending emails with what look like official links. So go directly to the eBay website to change your password: don't be caught again.
