SIM Swap fraud detection and reporting

The ICO worked with a number of larger service providers to understand the processes involved and ensure the service providers were identifying and reporting all relevant personal data breaches.

During 2023 and 2024, the ICO also approached a number of mid-size service providers with a view to undertaking consensual audits of incident detection and reporting, as a form of information gathering to establish whether similar issues existed in organisations of that size.
