The director of LCL Finance Limited, Thomas Jameson, has been prosecuted at the Nottingham Magistrates’ Court. Mr Jameson changed his plea on the day of trial to one of guilty for the offence of his company under section 17 of the Data Protection Act 1998 for processing personal data electronically without a valid entry on the data protection register. The Information Commissioner was satisfied that the offence of LCL Finance Limited as detailed above was committed with the consent, connivance, or neglect of Thomas Jameson as director, and as such he was charged with a further offence under s61(1) of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Mr Jameson was fined £500.00 for the offences, and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £1,278.63, with a victim surcharge of £50.00.
