The UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.

Now that the UK has left the EU, there is a transition period until the end of 2020 to allow time to negotiate a new relationship with the EU. The ICO is in conversations with Government about what data protection law will look like at the end of transition and how organisations can keep data flowing in from the EU and EEA.
