Complaints about home CCTV systems
-
1. Is your complaint about a fixed camera?
Yes – my complaint is about a fixed camera.
-
2. Does the camera capture footage outside the boundaries of the user’s property?
Yes – the camera captures footage outside the user’s property.
-
3. What is your main concern?
I’ve requested copies of footage of me from a domestic CCTV user and they haven’t given it to me.
-
4. How long have you waited?
Less than 30 days
Wait for 30 days
Data protection law gives CCTV users 30 calendar days to respond to a request.
If your request has still not been actioned after 30 days, we would recommend you speak to the CCTV user before complaining to the ICO. It may be that the CCTV user is not refusing to action your request, but that they are very busy or struggling with the technology. You should give them the chance to explain why it has taken them longer than a month.
