Availability – the forgotten corner
Cybersecurity panel session hosted by Stephen Bonner, Deputy Commissioner Regulatory Supervision
Session description:
The CIA Triad has been used as an information security model since the early 1970’s. However, with cyber threats increasing, availability remains the forgotten corner of the triangle. Data protection doesn’t only rely on protecting confidentiality and the integrity of information, but ensuring systems and information are available when needed. Our recent “Learning from Mistakes of Others” review highlighted that a basic lack of cyber security is still a leading cause of data breaches. But what is a breach?
So many people still see breaches as compromise, exposure or loss of information. But recent incidents have shown the significant impact a lack of availability has on organisational resilience and services.
Our panellists discuss how to address this risk, and what measures you should take to remain compliant with the law.
