The Information Commissioner’s Office FOI Policy team is responsible for producing and reviewing detailed guidance on Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).

We are seeking views from all stakeholders who are aware of and/or use the detailed guidance, to gather feedback and help us understand:

• whether they use the ICO’s FOI and/or EIR detailed guidance; 
• if so, for what purpose; and
• how useful these products are for this segment of our audience.

We will use the responses to build an evidence base at an aggregate level. Individual responses will not be identifiable.

You can respond to the consultation by completing our online survey, available through SmartSurvey.  

This survey will remain open until 23:59 (GMT) on 31 July 2026. We are unable to consider responses submitted after the deadline. The survey should take around 15-25 minutes to complete (dependent on responses).

The survey is structured as follows: 

• background information about you;
• your feedback on the FOI and EIR detailed guidance; and
• your feedback on the impact of using the detailed guidance.
