Your first day
Find out what to expect on your first day at the ICO.
Induction
Your induction training will consist of 3 stages as follows:
- First day induction – on your first morning you will be met by a member of the Human Resources Team who will go through information considered essential at this early stage. You will then be required to attend a Facilities, IT and Security and Information Governance inductions before joining your department.
- Departmental induction – your department will make arrangements to provide you with training and guidance tailored to your particular role.
- Corporate induction– You will be invited to attend an induction programme which will provide you with an overview of the work undertaken by the many departments within the Office, the procedures they use and how they interlink. This will enable you to meet colleagues, ask questions and understand the roles and functions of the various departments.
Photograph ID
On your first day you will be required to have your photograph taken for your Security Pass. All staff are issued with an ID card which serves three purposes:
- It identifies you as an authorised person to gain access to ICO premises.
- It allows entrance into and around the ICO premises through a swipe card access system.
- It enables you to use the office printers.
You must wear your security pass whenever you are in the office. Care must be taken not to display your pass when you are out of the office.
The Information Commissioner’s Office treats the issue of security with primary importance. It is the responsibility of all staff to be aware of the security policy and comply with it to help ensure safety at work.
