Types of case:
- Incident – the majority of FRU cases are opened as Incidents. Following review these are escalated to Investigations where necessary.
- Investigation – FRU cases that progress to investigations will generally be those where:

- the deadline for payment of penalties has expired and is not subject to appeal or;
- the FRU has identified significant risks to ongoing and future compliance with the legislation, and there are potential opportunities to progress further enforcement action either internally or via partnership working with relevant stakeholders.
