Conclusion and next steps

This research, along with our survey research into the experiences of those attempting to access their care records, has given us a much greater understanding of the process of accessing care records. It builds on work including the MIRRA project 1 looking into how to improve outcomes for people attempting to understanding more about their time in care. 

We have launched our Better records together campaign and new resources which address a number of the challenges we identified during the course of our research.

Through this campaign, we will continue to work to: 

  • improve the experience of those attempting to access their records; and
  • support the organisations who are responsible for these records.
