The ICO exists to empower you through information.

As a Corporation Sole established under the Data Protection Act 2018 the Information Commissioner’s functions are vested personally in the Commissioner.

Paragraph 6(2) of schedule 12 to the Act allows the Commissioner to delegate their functions to officers and staff. This Scheme of Delegations formally details the Commissioner’s main delegations relating to their regulatory, financial and procurement functions.

The delegations are to specific grades and job roles rather than to individual staff.

The Commissioner has also formally delegated responsibility for the strategic leadership of the Information Commissioner’s Office to the Management Board. Details relating to the strategic leadership of the ICO are available here.
