The complainant requested specific information about an investigation into his mother’s death. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) refused to confirm or deny whether it held the requested information, citing sections 30(3), (investigations and proceedings), 38(2) (health and safety) and 40(5) (personal information). The Commissioner’s decision is that GMP was entitled to refuse to confirm or deny under section 30(3). The Commissioner does not require GMP to take any steps in relation to the request. Information Tribunal appeal EA/2012/0236 withdrawn.
