Cambridgeshire Constabulary

  • Date 4 July 2013
  • Sector Police and criminal justice
  • Decision(s) FOI 14: Not upheld

The complainant requested information about Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s (“the Constabulary”) conclusion that certain allegations he had made which it had investigated revealed no evidence of criminal behaviour. He also requested information about its assertion that it had considered charging him with wasting police time. The Constabulary refused the request under section 14(1) of the FOIA as it considered it vexatious. The Commissioner’s decision is that the requests are vexatious and that section 14 was applied correctly. The Constabulary is therefore not obliged to comply with the request. Information Tribunal appeal EA/2013/0150 dismissed. Information Tribunal appeal GIA/899/2014 allowed. Information Tribunal appeal GIA/1719/2016 (permission to appeal) refused.
