The complainant requested information from the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria (PCC for Northumbria) about the Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria, including information about correspondence received by her office and how that correspondence is dealt with. The PCC for Northumbria provided the complainant with some information in response to his request but refused to disclose the remainder citing sections 40 (personal information) and 44 (prohibitions on disclosure). It subsequently additionally cited section 12 (cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit) in respect of some of the requested information. The Commissioner’s decision is that the PCC for Northumbria was entitled to withhold the information on the basis of sections 12 and 40(2) of FOIA. The Commissioner does not require the public authority to take any steps as a result of this decision notice.
