The complainant requested copies of internal communications relating to the Deputy Prime Minister’s decision to make a statement under section 19 of the Human Rights Act 1998 that the provisions of the Succession to the Crown Bill are compatible with the European convention on Human Rights. The Commissioner’s decision is that the public authority was entitled to withhold the disputed information on the basis of the exemption at section 42(1). The Commissioner does not require the public authority to take any steps.
