Cheshire West and Chester Council

The complainant has requested information relating to a decision made by Chester West and Chester Council (‘the council’) to write off a bad debt. The Commissioner’s decision is that the council has correctly applied the exemption for commercial interests at section 43(2) of the FOIA in relation to the name of the debtor. The Commissioner does not require the public authority to take any steps to ensure compliance with the legislation.
