The complainant has requested information relating to registered sex offenders. The Home Office (HO) failed to respond to this request for information and the Commissioner’s decision is that in doing so the HO breached sections 1(1) and 10(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Commissioner requires the HO to respond to the request to ensure compliance with the legislation. The HO must take these steps within 35 calendar days of the date of this decision notice. Failure to comply may result in the Commissioner making written certification of this fact to the High Court pursuant to section 54 of the FOIA and may be dealt with as a contempt of court.
