The complainant has requested information relating to a letter not suitable for publication as it contains details of one case of alleged child abuse. The Home Office (HO) failed to respond to this request for information within 20 working days and the Commissioner’s decision is that in doing so it breached section 10(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Commissioner requires the HO respond to the request. The public authority must take these steps within 35 calendar days of the date of this decision notice. Failure to comply may result in the Commissioner making written certification of this fact to the High Court pursuant to section 54 of the FOIA and may be dealt with as a contempt of court.
