  • Decision(s) FOI 23: Not upheld, FOI 40: Not upheld

The complainant requested documents listed at the National Archives but retained by the Home Office that relate to demonstrations against the re-introduction of internment in Northern Ireland. The Home Office refused to disclose this information under the exemptions provided by sections 23(1) (information relating to, or supplied by, security bodies) and 40(2) (personal information). The Commissioner’s decision is that the Home Office cited these exemptions correctly and so it was not obliged to disclose this information.
