The complainant made a request for information relating to the 63rd Session of the UN’s Commission on Narcotic Drugs. The Home Office stated that it does hold information falling within the scope of the request but considered part of the information exempt from disclosure under section 27(1)(a) (international relations) or section 40(2) (third party personal data) and the remainder exempt under section 35(1)(a) (formulation or development of government policy) of FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that the Home Office was entitled to rely on section 27(1)(a) and (b), section 35(1)(a) and section 40(2) to withhold the remaining information. The Commissioner does not require the Home Office to take any steps.
