The complainant has requested information about a meeting between the Chancellor of the Exchequer and representatives of Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, in June 2022. HM Treasury disclosed some information, but withheld the remainder, citing sections 35(1)(a) (Formulation of government policy etc) and 40(2) (Personal information) of FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that HM Treasury was entitled to rely on the cited exemptions to withhold the remaining information.
