The complainant has requested a breakdown of figures on referrals to Prevent by various categories. West Midlands Police (WMP) refused the request on the basis of sections 24(1) and 31(1)(a) and (b) of FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that WMP has correctly applied section 24(1) and the public interest favours maintaining the exemption and withholding the requested information. The Commissioner does not require further steps. First-tier tribunal (General Regulatory chamber) information rights appeal EA/2023/0346 appeal dismissed.
