Chief Constable of North Yorkshire

The complainant has requested information about the policing of a hunt from North Yorkshire Police (NYP). NYP refused to provide the requested information citing sections 31(1)(a) and (b) (Law enforcement) of FOIA. During the Commissioner’s investigation, NYP determined that the total cost of policing these events was not held, although it did hold some overtime costs which have been disclosed in this notice.
The Commissioner’s decision is that, on the balance of probabilities, the costing information is not held. He has also determined that NYP was entitled to rely on section 31 of FOIA to withhold the rest of the information requested. No steps are required.
