You are not required to pay a fee

Based on your answers, you no longer need to pay a data protection fee but you might still have an existing registration. 

How to cancel your registration

If you no longer need to pay a data protection fee, please complete our online cancellation form below or contact us.

If you cancel a registration which is paid by direct debit, you’ll also need to cancel the direct debit with the bank or building society.

If you've received a notice of intention to issue a monetary penalty from us but are no longer required to pay the fee, cancel your registration now. Once you've cancelled, our records will automatically update and you'll not be given a monetary penalty notice. You don't need to contact us to tell us you've cancelled your registration.

The data protection fee is a legal requirement for organisations processing data in the UK (that don't qualify for an exemption). Failure to pay could result in a fine, so you must be sure you do not need to pay before cancelling your registration.

This can be found on your application or renewal correspondence, beginning with Z, A or C.

Do you still hold any personal information electronically? Answer yes even if you're not actively using the information. Holding information electronically could include having stored on laptops, desktop computers, in cloud storage, CDs or USB storage.
