Complaints about home CCTV systems

Before you submit a complaint to the ICO you should read our guidance about home CCTV systems. You can find out what data protection law says about CCTV and access a template letter to send to a CCTV owner. This might help to resolve your concerns quickly without ICO involvement.

There is a limited amount of action the ICO can take to make a person comply with data protection legislation. It’s highly unlikely the ICO will consider it fair or balanced to take enforcement action against a home CCTV owner.
